Makiko’s yoga journey started in 2012. Loved the transformation that happened in body, but more strongly in mind. Completed Yoga Alliance 200hr teacher training in 2015 in Tokyo. Her passion for yoga is toward transferring skills learned on the mat to day-to-day life off the mat.
Moved to CA from Tokyo in 2016 with her family. Yoga helped her and her family greatly during and after the transition to a new environment while embracing new life challenges. Yoga teaches her the true meaning of being “authentic self” in a diverse yet challenging environment like Silicon Valley and also a true joy of learning. Most recently, Makiko completed Yin Yoga and Kids Yoga & Mindfulness trainings in Los Gatos, CA to extend her love of yoga more to youths, adults and the elderly. Over the last couple of years, her passion has expanded to community-based yoga through volunteering at public venues to help people discover they can fully participate in yoga to achieve health and well being. Additionally, she has been trained in fall prevention and chronic disease self-management. Her understanding in these areas should provide a great value to broader application of the yoga practice.
